Well-known as a representative successor of Park Chowol’s singing style, Kim Suyeon has offered a lot of performances with her skilled aewonsong (i.e., voice expressing sadness) as well as her ripen thick voice, all of which have deeply touched a string in audiences’ heart. As shown in the existence of many fans of her Heungtaryeong, her voice has the power of mind-touching and consolation.
The Misan style Sugung-ga has been succeeded through Song Heungrok, Song Gwangrok, Song Yuryong, Yu Seongjun, Park Chowol, and Kim Suyeon. Dongpyeon (lit. East-side) style’s power and straightforwardness in it, and Kim Suyeon’s unique aewonseong (i.e., voice of sadness) will lead the audience to dramatically appreciate satires, critics, and humors within the text of Sugung-ga. With Master Kim Suyeon, Kang Kyeonga and Kang Taegwan will also perform pansori, and Master Lee Taebaek and Han Susan will play buk for this performance.
