Park Nokju Style Heungbo-ga by Master Jung Sunim

Jung Sunim’s Heungbo-ga is a Dongpyeon (i.e., East-side) style one that has been succeeded through Song Mangap, Kim Jeongmun, Park Nokju and Park Songhee. It is said that its concise text is delicate, elegant but solid as well. She learned Heungbo-ga, Simcheong-ga, Chunhyang-ga, Sugung-ga and Yugwansun Yeolsa-ga from her mother, Jang Woljunseon, a Master of pansori, gayageum, geomungo and traditional dance. She had performed in Yim Chunaeng Guggeuk (lit. National Opera) of Women as well as National Changgeuk Company of Korea. Performing mainly based on Yeongnam province, which is quite rare, she has been contributing to the development of pansori of the region.
Her student Jung Gyeongok and Cho Aeran will perform together on this festival stage. Part of Heungbo-ga will be performed with the form of gayageum byeongchang (i.e., singing with gayageum-play). It is expected that Master Jung Sunim will lead the whole performance with her high-spirited energy. Jo Yongbok, Jeong Seongyong, and Kim Cheoljun will powerfully support the performance through their buk playing.
