“TAAL” is a world music band that pursues newer ways of musical creation and experiment rather than sticking to traditional composition methods. Qawwali music, a traditional Pakistani genre originated from Sufism – a cultural form of Islamic mysticism, reflects people’s wishes toward spiritual confrontation to the God, and often leads listeners to the stage of self-oblivion. Grafting this music onto Korean folksongs that feature their unique tastefulness and rhythmicity, TAAL has created an unfamiliar but easily-enjoyable genre.
