“PUNK DAZE,” an “alternative gut band,” offers an exciting performance of music, jaedam (talk) and dance based on “Yeonggamnori (Intangible Cultural Property No.2 of Jeju-do)” and “Chuneun gut,” both of which are included in Jeju’s norigut genre. Dochaebi, the seventh son of Heo Jeongseung who came from the peninsula and then became an ancestral god, is the being that should be sent back to the peninsula after feeding well. Performers should persuade Dochaebi to set a boat afloat on the sea through conversation, and then lift his spirit so that he can load all his sorrow accumulated for a long time on the boat and thereby complete the preparation for his romantic departure. The behavior of Dochaebi who came across the sea is quite weird, and the farewell songs by simbang (shamans of Jeju-do province) are quite romantic. Do you want to join this exciting gut performance?
