Jeonju International Sori Festival, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada, offers a special program in which Korean pansori and early Mediterranean music meet together. The Sori Festival has been designing pansori-based collaborative works continuously. The first attempt was pansori performers’ collaborative work with Cuatro Minimal (from Korea, Japan, and Mexico), and the second one was with Flamenco Biennale. Thus, this year’s project is the third collaborative project driven by the festival.

In , a confrontation between the “two orients” co-produced by Korea and Canada, Mediterranean musics from “Constantinople” that has been conducting historical, cultural and inner explorations and another “orient” music, that is, Chung Sang Hui's pansori meet each other. Let us watch how Chung Sang Hui's highly-refined skills, timbre, and expressions are harmonized with elegant and lush melodies from Mediterranean music. The audience will be impressed by a new world of sounds produced by the artists from “the orient” where the sun comes up.
