The Breath of Sinawi brings together two distinct lineages of Honam salpuri dance with improvised sinawi ensemble. As the scarf-based Choi Seon lineage and bare-handed Kim Gyeong-ran style dance contrast, music and dance transcend traditional roles to co-create a living performance. Musicians and dancers engage in a profound dialogue, weaving different artistic paths into a single, cohesive flow.
Kim Mi-seon, Seo Joung-sook, and Yoo In-sang are renowned masters of traditional Korean dance and music who have long collaborated at Seoul Gyobang. Featuring Kim, a designated transmitter of Honam Salpuri Dance, Seo, a recipient of the 2025 KBS Gugak Grand Prize, and the esteemed musician Yoo In-sang, this performance is the culmination of their artistic trust. The Breath of Sinawi marks their first collaborative production, showcasing the essence of tradition reimagined through the language of contemporary stage.
