Country Gongbang
Formed in 2014, Country Gongbang is one of Korea's leading five-piece bluegrass bands. Featuring the classic acoustic combination of banjo, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, and bass, the group has established a distinctive musical identity that blends the warmth of traditional American bluegrass with the lyrical sensibilities of Korea.
In 2023, the band received the International Band Performance Grant from the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), gaining international recognition for its artistic achievements. The following year, Country Gongbang became the first Korean band ever invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, the historic home of American country music. Their performance—featuring the first Korean-language song ever presented on the Opry stage—earned a standing ovation from the audience.
This performance brings together the vibrant rhythms of the banjo and fiddle with music deeply rooted in Korean emotion and storytelling. As the birthplace of traditional Sori, Jeonju provides the perfect setting for an inspiring encounter between Korean musical heritage and American bluegrass. Join Country Gongbang for an energetic performance that celebrates music's ability to transcend cultures and connect audiences around the world.
