Young Pansori Five Stories

Young Pansori Five Stories is the stage where these emerging sori singers present a full solo Pansori performance under their own names for the first time. Established by the Jeonju International Sori Festival in 2012, the program now marks its fifteenth year. When past participants are asked what this stage has meant to them, their answers are strikingly similar: "It is the stage every young sori singer hopes to stand on—at least once." Inspired by performances they once watched from the audience, they now take their place on the stage and pass that same dream on to the next generation. 

Over the past fifteen years, fifty-eight sori singers have passed through this program, each adding a new chapter to its history. Yet the true value of this stage lies not only in the performance itself, but also in what comes afterward. If these artists continue to meet, exchange ideas, and create new performances together, this program will become more than a launching pad—it will grow into a living foundation for the Pansori community. It is our hope that the Jeonju International Sori Festival will continue to nurture this tradition, allowing Young Pansori Five Stories to flourish as one of the festival's defining programs for years to come.
