Araetnyeok Suryukjae Preservation Society
It consoles the dead souls lingering on the land and in the water.

이미지

It's a Buddhist ritual that guides to heaven dead souls that lost their way and linger in land and water. It is full of high historicity and artistry as it is written in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. Compared to Yeongsanjae that leads individuals to heaven, Araetnyeok Suryukjae is more public and has characteristics of mixing day and night rituals. Succeeding in keeping the core of beompae which has been inherited in Gyeongsangnam-do, it is valuable as a Buddhist ritual ceremony containing the local features with respect to music and ritual ceremony.
