[World Music Workshop]
Time to Communicate with Foreign Musicians through Music
Opportunity to enjoy world music genres in person which are usually difficult to approach. The audience and musicians on the stage becomes one through music beyond their nationalities. You can get kind explanations about unfamiliar music and instruments of other countries.
The musical legacy that Poland has given to the world is undoubtedly one of the widest and most powerful. Masurques, original from a rural context and a source of inspiration for variations around the world, from Sweden to the Philippines, through Cape Verde and Latin America; and Poles, dances associated in origin to the noble classes, were already terms of global diffusion, long before the information age, systematized and elevated to the context of western scholarly music by reference authors, such as the romantic Frédéric Chopin, and for many others, not Polish also, such as Telemann, Mussorgsky, Débussy, Ravel, Scriabin, Borodin, Dvořák or Schubert.
The source of emotion comes from a music that has risen to the palaces and has gone down to the pastors' houses, which have traveled centuries and continents, in an unfinished transmutation. It is the same emotion, sometimes contained, sometimes ravishing, of the music that Janusz Prusinowski and his companions offer us, and who have taken them on tour throughout Europe, in the USA and Asia.
Janusz and his colleagues have found this emotion precisely within the holders of that popular heritage, within their living sources, who are the old peasant musicians. From a contemporary point of view, with this deep knowledge together with a greater technical skill, it is taking a step forward to create a new repertoire that creates beauty and truth.
