Performance presentation

Bongsan Mask Dance-Drama is one of the mask dances that has been passed down through the generations from several towns of Hwanghae Province from long ago. It was designated as the 17th national intangible cultural property of Korea in 1967. With characters like apostate monks, disgraced yangban (members of the elite upper class of traditional Korean society), slaves, shaman, clowns, and other ordinary people, it exposes the corruptions of shamanism, Buddhism, lewdness, and the yangban class with sarcastic humor. This year, they are going to show three sections of Bongsan mask dance-drama: the 2nd section of the eighth apostate dance, the 4th section of the senior dance, and the fifth section of the lion dance.
